Firstly: what automation is, what it does, and how it works

What it is

Most people think automation just means making a single task quicker. It is so much more than that. Real automation is having eyes everywhere at once. Stock levels, delivery dates, staff files, compliance scores, costs, hours, deadlines, the lot, all watched continuously and pulled together the moment you need it. Not buried across a dozen systems and spreadsheets, but gathered, checked, and handed to you in plain language you can act on.

What it does

Picture a job that needs information from five different places before you can even start. Pulling it together takes all morning, but your day does not stop and wait for you. While you are heads-down gathering, the work keeps mounting up. Just getting to the point where you can begin is a grind, let alone getting ahead. Now replace all of that with a single moment: "Here is the data you need to make that decision. What's next?" All day. Every day. That is what we build.

How it works

The information you need almost always already exists. The problem is that it is scattered, sitting in different systems and records that do not talk to each other. Automation bridges those gaps. It brings the right information together, checks it, cross-references it against the standards your industry runs on, and hands it back in plain language you can act on straight away. You are not learning a complicated new system. You are getting a clear answer, drawn from everything that was already there, the moment you need it. And because a person always stays in control, you can see where every answer came from and step in whenever you choose.

Why I started this

I spent fifteen years in the health and social care sector. I started as a support worker and worked through almost every role to head of operations, with a fair few business roles along the way. I know what the work asks of people, because I have done it.

From COVID onwards, something I could no longer ignore kept happening. I watched good, hardworking people burn out and leave the sector for good. And I watched preventable harm reach the very people we were all there to protect. Not through lack of care, but because the people delivering it were drowning in process, paperwork, and pressure that left no room for the human part of the job.

I started Moai to build the fix, not just to grit my teeth and carry on. I started this to bring about positive change for the betterment of people, and to prevent avoidable harm.

What we believe

AI is at its best when it is invisible. The best system is one you barely notice. It quietly takes the work off your plate, accurately, and leaves you free to do the part only a human can do.

We are not building AI for the sake of it. We build tools that earn trust by being useful, clear, and easy to override. The human should always be in control. Not as a box to tick, but because it simply produces better outcomes. Systems that keep people informed and in charge fail less, recover faster, and get trusted by the people actually using them.

And we will tell you honestly when we cannot help. We would rather lose a contract than oversell what automation can really do.

Why "Moai"

In life, we are quietly expected to be made of stone. Resolute, unshakeable, holding steady through a working life that can run forty or sixty years. The Moai have stood resolute for six hundred. That is the standard we build to: systems steady enough to carry the weight, so the people no longer have to carry all of it alone.
